Meeting of the UN WOMEN Group for Partnership with the Civil Society


Svjetlana Timotic and Ivana Zelic, representatives of IZ GRUGA VOJVODINA, attended the first meeting of the UN WOMEN Group for partnership with the civil society which was held in Belgrade on October 27, 2022.

At the meeting an analysis of the position of women in Serbia was carried out within the four areas of the UN WOMEN strategic plan (2022 – 2025) which include: management and participation in public life; economic empowerment of women; elimination of violence against women and girls; women, peace and security, humanitarian action and disaster risk reduction.

The aim of the meeting was to formulate the themes and guidelines for joined advocacy and implementation of activities through the exchange of insights, experience and expertise. The sessions were held as plenary discussions about the impact of current social-economic, strategic, legislative and political trends on gender equality and empowerment of women, mapping obstacles and possibilities to reach gender equality. The meeting discussed the prospect of improving the legal and strategic framework for gender equality, their compliance with international norms and standards and the upcoming reports on their implementation by the state.

In addition to the representative from IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA, Svjetlana Timotić, members of the UN WOMEN Serbia Group for partnership with civil society are representatives of 12 non-governmental organizations.
