Ten media, including the Disability Portal of the Organization IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA, received grants for the production of texts on the topic of gender-based violence within the tender Ethical reporting about violence against women. BIRN called for an entry within the project Improved Safety of Women in Serbia, done by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowering Women in Serbia (UN Women), with the support of the Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade.
An online workshop about ethical standards in reporting on violence against women has been set up for editors and journalists. It was held on Friday, June 17, 2022. at 11 am via the ZOOM platform. Miladinka Mijatovic and Marijana Canak participated in the workshop on behalf of the Disability Portal.
Milorad Ivanovic, an Editor-in-chief of BIRN, talked about ethical standards in writing about violence against women. Kosara Beker, program director of FemPlatz, analyzed examples of covering violence against women and Sanja Kovacev, a manager of social media at BIRN, gave guidelines for enhancing the visibility of texts on social media.
Three texts about the specifics of violence against women with disabilities will have been published on the Disability Portal by the end of October of the current year.
