Eight students in the second year of the Department of Social Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Novi Sad carried out professional practice in IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA in May 2024.
During the practice, the students got familiar with the organizational structure, activities, associates, and premises of IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA. They went through the content of the website and social networks of IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA, read pieces on the organization’s Internet media – Disability Portal, and conferred printed info materials and publications.
The students could follow the lectures within the Informal educational program of disability studies: DISABILITY TODAY remotely, and consult elementary literature. They gained new knowledge about models of disabilities, the experience of persons with different kinds of disabilities, the movement for the rights of persons with disabilities, advocates for independent living in Serbia, accessibility principles, universal design, accessibility of cultural institutions, and a culture of accessibility.
During the professional practice, they took part in the session of Laughter Yoga and inspected the architectural, information, and communicational accessibility of public institutions in their local communities.
All students showed an admirable interest in the target group IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA and the activities the organization deals with, and they performed tasks with great motivation during professional practice.
