At the invitation of the Government of Northern Macedonia, UNWOMEN organized a meeting in Skopje on September 30 and October 1, 2019, inviting more than 60 experts from non-governmental organizations, including representatives from … IZ KRUGA – VOJVODINA, to contribute to the analysis of the progress of the Beijing Platform for Action on the the Western Balkans and Turkey.
The experts made their views known on the basis of three main issues:
1. What are the most persistent, most difficult structural barriers to achieving the Beijing Platform for Action?
2. What good practices should be highlighted?
3. What do you recommend should be done to remove structural barriers, prevent the non-recognition of women’s rights, and gender equality?
The experts worked interactively, in moderated plenary sessions and in six thematic working groups. The moderator presented national analyzes of the progress of the Beijing Platform for Action, prepared by governments, which allow comparisons between different countries.
The notes from the various sessions will be compiled into an Expert Opinion Paper on the progress of the Beijing Platform for Action in the Western Balkans region.
