IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA Joined the Local Coalition for the Improvement of Work and Employability of Persons with Disabilities

Centre for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities Serbia organized a meeting to found a coalition in the premises of IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA on October 6, 2023.

Apart from the representatives of the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities Serbia and Caritas Novi Sad, the Memorandum on cooperation in building up policies and rights of persons with disabilities in the employment process was signed by representatives of IZ KRUGA VOJVODINA, Svetionik u plavom (Lighthouse in Blue), the Association for providing support to persons with the autism Novi Sad, and the National organization of persons with disabilities.

With this Memorandum, the signatories establish long-term cooperation in the City of Novi Sad for the purpose of creating conditions for the equal inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labor market and improving the rights of persons with disabilities in the work and employment process.

The goal of the cooperation is to contribute to the implementation of active measures and policies for the employment of persons with disabilities and the enactment of the Law on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities through proactive monitoring of local policies and rights of persons with disabilities in the work and employment process.

The main area of cooperation between the Memorandum signatory organizations is the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities on equal grounds, including equal access to employment and workspace, which needs to be open, inclusive, and accessible to persons with disabilities. Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities acts as a coordinator.

Since representatives of local governments and National employment services will have the role of observer and active participants in providing guidelines for the improvement of policies and procedures in the domain of employment of persons with disabilities, the acting head of the City Administration for Social and Child Protection of the City of Novi Sad, Nenad Krstic, attended the meeting. He presented the ongoing activities of the administration he heads.

The establishment of local coalitions is an activity of the project Economic empowerment of persons with disabilities financially supported by the American Agency for International Development – USAID and implemented by the Forum of Youth with Disabilities in partnership with Caritas Serbia, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, Smart Kolektiv and the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities of Serbia.
